The Story Behind the Scientist

I grew up in a little town outside of the big city, or more more precisely, the Big Apple.  I spent a large part of my youth fishing off of the south shore of Long Island; blackfish, fluke, striped bass, bluefish, porgies, these are the fish I grew up with.  I've since traded these fishes for something a bit more iconic of the coast I now call home.
Like many young people these days, I had no idea what I was going to do after I graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2012.  Luckily, the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association provided me with a foundation to build my eventual career off of when they offered me an internship working at some of their remote salmon camps.  I fell in love with the wilderness lifestyle and the fish were pretty interesting as well.
I have been living and breathing Pacific salmon and trout since then, attempting to gain experience in all aspects of the fishery.  I have worked at multiple field camps, several hatcheries, hydroelectric projects, attended two universities, and even worked in a Seattle fish market in my pursuit of salmonid knowledge.  I am excited to be a part of the Moore Lab now, working alongside some of the best and brightest young researchers in the field!
I'm not sure where this fishy field life will take me in the future, but I can't wait to find out because I sure am enjoying the journey so far!
