The Story Behind the Scientist
I grew up in a little town outside of the big city, or more more precisely, the Big Apple.  I spent a large part of my youth fishing off of the south shore of Long Island; blackfish, fluke, striped bass, bluefish, porgies, these are the fish I grew up with. I've since traded these fishes for something a bit more iconic of the coast I now call home.
Like many young people these days, I had no idea what I was going to do after I graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2012. Â Luckily, the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association provided me with a foundation to build my eventual career off of when they offered me an internship working at some of their remote salmon camps. Â I fell in love with the wilderness lifestyle and the fish were pretty interesting as well. Â
I have been living and breathing Pacific salmon and trout since then, attempting to gain experience in all aspects of the fishery. Â I have worked at multiple field camps, several hatcheries, hydroelectric projects, attended two universities, and even worked in a Seattle fish market in my pursuit of salmonid knowledge. Â I am excited to be a part of the Moore Lab now, working alongside some of the best and brightest young researchers in the field! Â
I'm not sure where this fishy field life will take me in the future, but I can't wait to find out because I sure am enjoying the journey so far!
